UBS Adjusts Rating for Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) Amidst Shifting EV Market Dynamics

On September 1, 2026, analyst firm UBS adjusted its rating for Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) from Buy to Neutral when the stock price was $12.10. Li Auto is a prominent company in China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market. It designs, develops, and sells premium smart electric vehicles (EVs), facing a period of subdued market demand.

This rating adjustment follows recent financial reports. The company posted a second consecutive quarter of losses, as highlighted by WSJ. For the second quarter of 2026, Li Auto's vehicle deliveries totaled 98,330 units. This figure marks an 11.5% decrease compared to the same period in the previous year, reflecting weaker demand in the competitive Chinese EV market.

In response, Li Auto is actively launching new models to stimulate sales. The company plans to launch its new flagship MPV, the Li MEGA, on September 2. In mid-September, it will introduce the Li i9, a flagship family SUV, to expand its lineup of pure battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Despite the quarterly performance, more recent data shows positive momentum for the Chinese EV manufacturer. Li Auto delivered 37,679 vehicles in August 2026. The company is also expanding internationally with a product launch in Dubai. As of August 31, 2026, its network includes nearly 500 retail stores and over 4,100 super charging stations.
