Constellation Energy (NASDAQ:CEG) Navigates Market Shifts Amidst Strong Earnings Guidance and AI Demand

Constellation Energy (NASDAQ:CEG) is the largest private-sector power producer in the world. The company generates and sells electricity, with a significant portion coming from its nuclear power plants. Constellation Energy currently has a market capitalization of approximately $97.26 billion and has reported revenues of $31.3 billion over the last twelve months.

Recently, an analyst from BNP Paribas adjusted their outlook on Constellation Energy. On August 19, 2026, they lowered their price target to $374 from a previous target of $393. At the time of this change, the stock was trading at $271.24, meaning the new target still represents a potential increase of about 37.89%.

This adjustment occurred as the stock saw a decline of approximately 4%. This was part of a broader trend where nuclear stocks, including competitors Oklo and NuScale Power, experienced a significant sell-off. The market downturn was largely influenced by concerns over AI-related investments and rising long-term interest rates.

Despite the price target reduction from one analyst, Constellation Energy has raised its own financial goals. The company increased its full-year 2026 earnings guidance, with the midpoint now at $12 per share. This represents a 28% increase from the $9.39 per share in adjusted operating earnings from the previous year.

Other analysts remain positive, with one reiterating a "Strong Buy" rating and increasing their price target to $449, as highlighted by Seeking Alpha. This optimism is supported by Constellation Energy capitalizing on AI-driven power demand and securing 920 megawatts in new nuclear contracts. The company's share repurchases are also accelerating its earnings per share growth.
