RLX Technology Inc. (NYSE:RLX) Navigates Q2 2026 Earnings Miss Amidst Strong International Growth

RLX Technology Inc. (NYSE:RLX), a leading developer and seller of smoke-free products including e-cigarettes, is actively expanding its business beyond its domestic market into international territories, with a particular focus on Europe. The company recently reported its financial results for the second quarter of 2026.

On August 14, 2026, RLX announced its earnings results. The company reported an earnings per share of $0.03, which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $0.09. Furthermore, RLX posted revenue of $148.87 million for the quarter, falling short of the estimated $173.99 million that analysts had predicted.

Despite missing analyst estimates, RLX's revenue of RMB 1.01 billion (US$148.87 million) marks a 14.8% increase from the same period in 2025. This revenue growth is primarily driven by international expansion. According to management, international markets now contribute approximately 70% of the company's total revenue.

As highlighted by Seeking Alpha, RLX explained the revenue miss was not due to weaker customer demand. Instead, it was a result of trade inventory adjustments. Distributors had pre-stocked products in the first quarter ahead of regulatory changes, leading to lower shipment volumes in the second quarter as inventory returned to normal levels.

Other financial metrics show positive trends. As reported by GuruFocus, RLX's gross margin improved to 35.4% from 27.5% in the prior year. RLX also maintains a very low Debt-to-Equity ratio of 0.013, indicating it uses very little borrowed money. A high current ratio of 8.53 shows a strong ability to pay its short-term bills and overall strong financial health.
