Replimune Group Inc. (NASDAQ: REPL) Faces Legal Scrutiny After FDA Approval and Price Target Hike

Replimune Group Inc. (NASDAQ: REPL) is a biotechnology company that develops oncolytic immunotherapies, which are treatments that use viruses to target and kill cancer cells. The company's main drug, Tudriqev, is used in combination with Opdovo, a treatment from Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (NYSE: BMY), to fight a specific type of skin cancer.

On August 7, 2026, BMO Capital raised its price target for REPL to $20.00 from a previous target of $16.00. A price target is an analyst's estimate of a stock's future value. At the time, the stock was trading at $12.86, which represents a potential increase of 55.52% to the new target.

This analyst upgrade follows a significant milestone for the company. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted accelerated approval for REPL's melanoma drug, Tudriqev. This approval was based on trial data showing a 24.20% objective response rate, which measures the percentage of patients whose tumors shrink or disappear after treatment.

The journey to approval was not straightforward. As highlighted by the Wall Street Journal, the FDA approved the drug on its third attempt after two prior rejections. These earlier rejections were due to concerns the agency had about the quality of the clinical data submitted by the company for review.

Despite the recent approval, Pomerantz LLP has started an investigation into Replimune Group Inc. for potential unlawful business practices related to its data submissions. Currently, the stock is trading at $12.86, up 8.71% for the day, with a market capitalization of approximately $1.08 billion.
