Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) Stock Gains Momentum with Analyst Upgrade and Strong Dividend Outlook

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is a global automaker that produces traditional, commercial, and electric vehicles (EVs). The company operates in a competitive automotive market against rivals like General Motors (NYSE:GM). Ford is currently in the spotlight after receiving a positive revision from a major analyst firm ahead of its quarterly earnings report, drawing significant investor attention.

On July 26, 2026, the analyst firm Jefferies upgraded its rating on Ford to 'Buy' from 'Hold'. Along with this upgrade, Jefferies set a price target of $17.50 for the stock. At the time, Ford was trading at $14.35, meaning the new target represents a potential upside of approximately 22%, highlighting a bullish outlook for the automaker's stock performance.

One reason for this positive investment outlook is Ford's strong dividend. The company provides a 4.24% dividend yield, which is the annual dividend payment relative to the stock's price. This return is more than double the S&P 500 average and much higher than GM's dividend yield of about 1%, making Ford an attractive option for income-focused investors.

Ford's financial strategy also supports this view. Its profitable commercial and traditional vehicle divisions generate enough cash to cover dividends and offset losses from its EV business. The company also reinforces its capital return strategy by repurchasing its own shares, including a substantial $311 million buyback in the first quarter of 2026, demonstrating a commitment to shareholder value.

However, Ford faces some headwinds for its upcoming second-quarter results. As highlighted by Zacks Investment Research, the company is dealing with lower U.S. sales and a 40.7% decline in EV sales. Despite these challenges, robust cost controls and a narrowing loss in its EV division are expected to help support overall profits and mitigate the impact of declining sales.
