Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) Stock Outlook: BMO Capital Reaffirms 'Outperform' Amidst Lung Cancer Drug Trial Results

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) is a major pharmaceutical company known for developing a wide range of medicines and vaccines. On June 23, 2026, BMO Capital reiterated its "Outperform" investment rating for Pfizer. The firm's recommended action is to hold the pharmaceutical stock, which was priced at $25.08 at the time of the rating.

This investment rating is maintained even as Pfizer announced that its experimental lung cancer drug missed its main goal in a late-stage clinical trial, as highlighted by Reuters. The stock performance experienced a minor decline of $0.13, or 0.52%, for the day, trading at $25.08 with a trading volume of about 39.94 million shares.

The study for the experimental drug, sigvotatug vedotin, did not show a statistically significant improvement in overall survival for patients with a type of non-small cell lung cancer. Overall survival is a common endpoint in cancer trials that measures how long patients live after receiving treatment.

However, as highlighted by Business Wire, Pfizer noted the drug's safety profile was manageable. The pharmaceutical company also observed an encouraging trend in patient survival for patients who had only received one prior line of therapy. This subgroup represented two-thirds of the participants in the study.

Pfizer has a market capitalization of approximately $142.94 billion, which is the total value of all its shares. Over the past 52 weeks, the stock price has traded within a range, reaching a high of $28.75 and a low of $23.11.
